Best Spot to Swim - Whitestone Lake

Our summer cottage is at the very end of Hamiltons Bay. The waterfront is a protected fish habit and when we first bought the place we decided to leave the shoreline rocky instead of secretly putting in a sandy beach .

So where do you go - when you want to take a dip?

Well let's start with water quality - Whitestone  is considered one of the warmer lakes in the Muskoka lake chains due to it's depth. So this makes for an incredible swimming experience. Whether you decide to dive in right off the dock (10ft+) or motor up the lake you can spend a lot of time in the water without freezing your butt off.

On those hot summer afternoons we like to motor straight down the lake to Deadman's Drop. Here you can expect to meet some of the other cottagers on our lake, and you will see dare devils jump from the top of the 30ft cliff into the safe waters below.

Be sure to pack a picnic lunch because you can stop off at Hossick Island for a rest, suntanning on the rocks or swimming from the shore.

ps. this is also a great place to pitch a tent and stay the night if you are the camping type.
